Catching Up

Note to self: Don't take five weeks off from blogging next summer in the midst of a surgery, two fun weekends away, an anniversary celebration, and other general summer merriment.  I'll break up the blog posts into short posts just for Shane, but I need to remember not to do this again (wait for five weeks between posts) next summer.

One of the highlights of my summer has been meeting with Kerry every week to go on walks from the Portland Hill Walks book.  During the time period I am catching up on (late July) we went on a great walk through Nob Hill to Kings Heights to Pittock Mansion and back down.  (What is Kings Heights you ask?  I have no idea, but that is the title of the walk in the book.  It's somewhere between Wallace Park in NW Portland and Pittock Mansion.)

In real life, you could see a lot of mountains from here.

Living in this house would make me really nervous.

It's really hard to tell from this angle, but these houses went straight up.

There are mountains in this picture too if you look very closely.

My dad came up for a quick visit to see Trey before his surgery.  We were practicing eating ice cream cones.

Trey, Camille, and I had a playdate one day while Mindy was in Ohio visiting her new nephew.  We got donuts first and then hit the park.  Watching Trey and Camille together is always so much fun.

Who knew eating donuts was such serious work?

Camille really wanted to visit the rose gardens.
Trey and Camille checking out the roses
would have made for a REALLY cute picture,
but I could not get them to both look at me.

They spent a long time running around the stage (performing, of course).
Herding them both and getting back to the car
took way longer than it should have.

For the past few years, Kris, John, Randy, and I have done our own brewfest at home instead of going to the summer brew fest downtown.  It is way better because there are no crowds, it's not nearly as hot, and much more relaxing.  Most of the beers we chose were tasty, but my favorite was Silver Moon Brewing's Get Sum Pale Ale.

Yes, Shane likes more frequent posts than novels.
