Randy, Trey, and I headed up a day early so we could spend the evening with Laura and Ryan and their boys. Somehow, once again, I walked away without a single picture from that visit. It was so good to see Laura and Ryan, and I love how even though so much time has passed between visits, but it feels like not a day has gone by. It took us forever to get up there due to traffic, but Laura sent me encouraging texts that she would have G&Ts waiting on the deck when we arrived. She knows me so well.
On Friday morning we drove into downtown Seattle because Dave and Shane happened to be in town for some Mariners games. We met at Pike Place Market and had lunch before going to Anacortes.
Uncle Wags and Trey
This was Trey's first time sleeping in a tent, and he did awesome! Slept through the night on both nights and even slept in later than usual. The only downside of our campout was the weather. It rained on both mornings, and it wasn't super warm. Luckily, on Saturday, the skies cleared and we were able to spend some quality time on the beach collecting rocks, throwing stones in the water, and gathering for a group family photo.
Trey and Grandpa Doug
Trey loved being in the tent, especially if Sesame Street and snacks were involved.
Far and few between are moments where Trey will cuddle with Randy,
so I had to capture this moment early on Saturday morning.
Headed down to the beach
Collecting rocks with Grandpa
We went on a Starbucks run with the hopes that Trey would fall asleep.
Apparently, the car nap works on more than one Clark.
Trey and I went down to the beach at one point with Uncle Bob and Caleb. Gone are the days of my reticent shy boy. He kept taking off down the path and didn't need/want me near him at all.
One of Trey's new favorite games is hide and seek. We played it A LOT. He is so cute when he plays because as soon as he hides and you say out loud, "Hmmmm, I wonder where Trey is..." he will jump out from his hiding place and say "Here I am!"
He also hasn't quite grasped the full concept of hiding yet.
Randy and Trey throwing rocks
Sunday morning it rained for a while after Trey and I woke up. Randy was down at the water fishing. I was able to keep Trey busy with the iPad while I read my book. We also enjoyed a pre-breakfast snack of gold Oreos. If I had had some coffee in the tent with me it would have been the perfect morning...cozy in the tent with my boy, my book, and cookies.
We stopped by Grandma Alice's on the way out of town to say goodbye. Word on the street is that she turns 90 in April and our family reunion will be moved up for a big birthday party. I imagine we will be spending a lot of time in Washington in the near future as Randy's parents are retiring after this school year and moving to Port Townsend. It will be so fabulous to have them within driving distance!
