Tramming, swimming, and more

Last weekend Randy and I took Trey down to the tram at OHSU for a ride. The Children's Museum was doing an activity there, and kids got to ride the tram for free.  While I wouldn't say it was one of my favorite summer activities, Trey was happy with his balloon, and it was cool to ride the tram for the first time.

There's a boy behind that balloon.

Family trammers

We have been doing swimming lessons this summer, and this week was week five (we missed one due to a doctor's appointment).  I am happy to say that this week was the first week Trey did not shed a tear, and I think he actually had fun!  He even put his whole head under water.  I was so proud!

Afterwards we stopped for donuts, and I am proud to say that another way Trey is just like me is in how much he loves frosting.  He doesn't need the donut...just the frosting, please.

Art class on Monday

Steve was in town this past weekend, and he came over on Monday night with the Kopplins to visit and to celebrate Sarah's birthday.  Having him here made me realize how much I miss the Winchester-Lochner clan and wish that they were still in Portland.  At one point, I was watching Steve and Trey interact and I actually started to get teary and cry a little.  It just totally bums me out that Trey will grow up without knowing some of our best friends.  I better stop typing about it or I might cry again.

Trey helped me decorate Sarah's birthday cupcakes.

Together again...minus Jen, of course.

This could potentially be the 21st birthday I have celebrated with Sarah.
It's not, of course, because we went home over the summer during college and we probably haven't spent every birthday together, but it's been close.  21 of them.  Wow.

He said, "Just like Grandpa Doug!"
(as in the resemblance - frosting vs. beard)

Today I took Trey to Oaks Park for their morning of rides for preschoolers.  The first ride he wanted to go on was the roller coaster, but as you can see from his expression, he was not thrilled.  At all.  The nice lady let us get off after one spin around, but I think it traumatized him for the rest of the trip.
Poor Trey before the ride even started
He was mostly upset that he couldn't sit on my lap,
but it got worse (much worse) after the ride started.
Let me reemphasize that it was Trey who wanted to go on this ride.

Recovering on the train

The carrousel was also a hit...

Unless he was on an animal that moved.

He kept finding rides that he wanted to go on, but as soon as we got in line and he saw what actually happened, he changed his mind.  I told him on the way home that we would go again when he is four.  Operation Amusement Park = FAIL
