MLK Weekend

Over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, Randy, Trey and I headed north to Port Townsend to see Randy's parents.  This was our second visit north (first being Thanksgiving), and we love having them within driving distance.

On Saturday, Randy's brother and his family came over for the day and it was the first time we were all together in a very long time.  Watching Trey spend time with his cousins is super fun, and I'm bummed he won't have a closer relationship with them due to the distance between us.

The grandparents bought a new Hot Wheel contraption for the grandkids.  Little did they know that it was their sons who would thoroughly enjoy it.

On Sunday, Trey and Grandpa Doug completed their tradition of making orange juice.  The oranges may not be fresh off their tree like they were in California, but freshly squeezed OJ is still pretty delish.

Grandma and Grandpa had a yard project to complete, so they roped Randy into helping.  The best part of the project (cutting over a partially fallen tree, pulling it out from the other trees, and chopping it into logs) was that Trey got to ride the tractor with Grandpa!  What a treat!

On Sunday, Randy and I took advantage of having grandparents as babysitters and went into town to grab a beer.  We went to a little place called the Pourhouse and watched the end of the Seahawks-Packers game.  I was sort of rooting for the Packers (a. because of what the Seahawks did to the Broncos in the last Super Bowl and b. because of Steve and Jen), but I really didn't care who won.  The end of the game ended dramatically with a Seahawks win and it was pretty cool to be in the bar and feel all of the excitement.

Randy, Trey, and I headed home on Monday and hit a major milestone on the way home...

It was great to spend the weekend with family, and it's always good to get out of town.
