I don't know if I've said this before, and I've been known to repeat myself a lot, but I have been playing a lot of Rescue Bots and superheroes. And I mean A LOT. I love love love my boy, but this may be one of the few things I will not miss about summer when I return to work. However, I love his imagination and his story telling. Someday I will need to write down his stories.
We have also been doing a lot of cuddle time and reading time. I love love love these moments together. Another thing I love about summer is not having to shower or "get ready" every day (as you can see in many of these pics).
As I've said before, I love summer for playdates and seeing friends I don't get to see during the school year. One day Trey and I met Ardis at Cadence's house for a summer lunch.
Mindy and I took the kids to Oaks Park one day for their preschool rides. Last year I took Trey and the first thing he wanted to do was go on the roller coaster. That freaked him out, so he didn't want to do anything else except the carrousel and the train. This year, he was way more adventurous and went on everything...except for the roller coaster.
I should've known that Trey napping for me during the afternoon after Oaks Park was a bad sign (I don't think he has napped for me once this summer)... I took Trey to soccer that afternoon and he complained of a tummy ache. I didn't think much of it and he played soccer for about 20 minutes. He came to me crying and said his tummy hurt, so we left. He started puking in the parking lot of the rec center, and puked or dry heaved every 15-20 minutes for the next 8.5 hours. IT WAS AWFUL.
Robin must be about to enter the Gotham City Jail.
Probably for saying something wrong.
Someone is not pleased with my lack of enthusiasm.

Someone else wanted in on the cuddle time.
My dad came up one Sunday to hang out with us. He and Trey played Chutes and Ladders on the deck, but I don't think my dad was too thrilled with Trey's strategy. I'm curious what the age level expectations are for playing board games at Trey's age. I mostly work on taking turns and don't worry so much about following the actual rules. Maybe I'm setting Trey up for a lot of disappointment.

Four kids and popsicles on a hot day
Trey took a little soccer class this summer, and he participated way more than I thought he would. Poor guy also got stomach flu during one class, a black eye in another, and a skinned knee in another. Hopefully, these memories won't interfere in his enjoyment of the sport.

A major down side to Trey's stomach flu (I still can't believe Randy and I didn't get it) was that he and Randy were supposed to go on their boys' camping trip that weekend. Randy cancelled because he didn't want to expose the other boys, and this ended up being a good thing because Trey had a minor round two on Friday morning. I had made plans for the weekend, thinking that the boys would be away, so Randy stayed home with Trey while I went out with friends. Friday night I went to sushi with Kris and Sara, and then on Saturday I had a massage and met Kathleen for dinner. It was nice to see friends and have girl time, but it wasn't quite as relaxing as I had hoped since I didn't have the house to myself. Also, I kept feeling waves of nausea and was super paranoid that I was going to still get sick.

By the end of the weekend, Trey was recovered and back to himself. We have been enjoying this nice weather, and Trey has been having a lot of fun in the backyard. Three cheers to feeling better and garden hoses!
