A Moment of Paradise

Randy should probably be writing this post because this is so much about him, but I'll give it a shot.  One day this summer, we drove out to the John Day River so Randy could go fly fishing with Trey for the first time.  I got to ride along, and it was just perfect.

First try fly fishing...

There's a fish!

Trey's first fish on a fly!

Trey loved standing in the water next to his daddy.

I don't think I've gone fishing with Randy since Trey has been born.  I used to go along, bring my book, crack a beer, and enjoy the scenery.  This afternoon reminded me of how perfect that scenario is.  Maybe I'll get some more opportunities as Trey gets older, although I think fly fishing will probably turn into a big time father-son thing.

As I was sitting in my chair, enjoying the sun, my book, and my beer, I was watching Trey and Randy walk down the side of the river to try out a different spot.  I could hear them talking, watched them holding hands as they walked, and listened to Trey giggling at the things Randy said.  My heart just melted at this perfect father-son memory.  I don't know if Randy will remember it as vividly as I do, but it was just an awesome moment.

Look at that sky!
Just gorgeous.
