Happy Birthday to Trey!

All week long I've been saying or thinking, "At this time last year I was...hugely pregnant...having contractions at work...at the end of year staff party (hugely pregnant)...at the farmers market...writhing around in pain on the bed...headed to the hospital...going into surgery."  Finally, Trey's birthday is here and it is time to celebrate!

We had a get together at Breakside Brewery which is a local restaurant a few blocks away from us that we have frequented since Trey was born.  We were lucky to be surrounded by many of the friends and family who have supported us over the past year.

Thanks to everyone who came and helped us to celebrate Trey's birthday.  Here are some pics from the party:

Today, June 20, is Trey's actual birthday.  He gave me a birthday present by sleeping until almost 6am instead of waking up at his usual 5:30am.  He has figured out how to get into a sitting position from his back or belly, so this is now what I am often greeted by when I go in to get him in the morning.  What a perfect way to start the day!

Trey and I went to brunch at Slappy Cakes, a restaurant where you can make your own pancakes at your table.  We went with Nyree and her two daughters.  Ashlyn, her oldest, turns eight today.  She and Trey are birthday twins!  I can't wait for Ashlyn, 8, and Madi, almost 6, to take care of Trey and teach him important life lessons.

Trey rounded out his day with trying raspberries for the first time (total hit) and cuddle time with Mama before bed.  I must say that this past year has been the most rewarding and fulfilling year of my life.  Each day, no matter how tired I might be, I feel so blessed to have this healthy, tender hearted, sweet, funny, curious, and darling boy in my life.
